 ADOPTION

ADOPTION tries to unite the love of a child with the love of parents by enabling them to enjoy a family and be able to grow as an emotionally stable person. It also offers parents the satisfaction of forming a family as they desire.

The Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity,  APOSTOLICAM ACTUOSITATEM,  from the  Vatican Council establishes the following about adoption:

“…adoption benefits the mother, children, adoptive parents and society. The mother can, by delegation of the responsibility on others, fulfill obligations she cannot assume herself: to offer the child the  home he(she) needs to grow as a person. For the child, adoption is the possibility to be welcomed and loved (…). For adoptive parents it represents the possibility to spiritually achieve a paternity that nature has frustrated and to extend their conjugal love in a generous way. Society benefits because it ensures the care of orphans or abandoned children. Institutions that promote adoption should not promote the irresponsibility of parents. On the contrary, they should promote, the sense of responsibility of those who adopt and of the ones who give their children up for adoption (…)”
