When we think back at the journey to this point we feel that it was completely worth it! The journey was certainly not easy and life always tests you. But getting to this point certainly has its benefits! Our prize is Thomas, and at the exact moment they placed him in our arms, his gaze has stayed firmly in our hearts and has filled our hearts with joy.
The first few days were all about fulfilling our wish to “protect our son” as our little one would give us nothing but smiles. This of course meant that his parents wouldn’t leave him alone for even a second. 48 hours passed, the weariness and stress of being first-time parents reminded us of our role as “parents and teachers”. In little time our son showed traits of his strong personality and his parents had to set some boundaries; and this of course hurts the heart, and Thomas is practicing his first shouts and cries. But after a few weeks, we all began to relax and time divided itself between “cries and joy”.
When we had to stay in Colombia for four weeks we showed our baby to our family on a daily basis over Skype. And to our surprise Thomas was also smiling at the webcam! Sleepless nights, nappies and early-morning feedings …but so much love! In order to continue this journey it’s necessary to go through each day with conversation, love and respect. But family means Happiness!!! To all those who have helped us before , during and after Thomas’ arrival we would like to say a big “Thank You”! To La Casa de la Madre y el Niño, a “see you later!” as we would like to continue with them this important task that is “the miracle of being a family”. With our sincerest regards Pedro, Andrea and Thomas |
