An embrace that will last a lifetime – Adoption

All the little ones who come to La Casa de la Madre y el Niño can be adopted. The idea is to unite the love of a child with the love of a parent , offering the right to enjoy a family and to grow into emotionally and physically stable adults.

A home that is ‘Abrazo’

Over the past 70 years hundreds of vulnerable children aged between 0 and 8 have come to La Casa de la made y el Niño with an opportunity to improve their wellbeing, prepare themselves for the future and guarantee a better quality of life.

More than 8000 children have been adopted and have found a home where they find affection, love and a place where they make not only their parents but also themselves very happy.  In this place, the children make the most of the large, comfortable facilities; specially adapted for their care and personal development.

We give an embrace throughout the whole pregnancy

La Casa de la Madre y el Niño has been lovingly taking in women with unwanted pregnancies who have decided to give their babies up for adoption for economic, social or family-related reasons.

They have the tranquillity and peace that a baby requires to be born, comfortable physical facilities and under the supervision of nutritionists, appropriate general services and specialised care.

An expectant mother can be welcomed in one of the following categories in the La Casa depending on their circumstance:

• Boarding: The mother may live in the institution with two children under the age of 6, who will leave with her at the end of the program
• Semi-boarding: The mother may sleep in the institution and during the day will engage in some external activity
• External: The mother may regularly attend for medical check-ups and other services and live in her own residence.

Human Resources

So that we may attend to the children and expectant mothers in a comprehensive manner, La Casa relies on a team of highly qualified professionals:

• Paediatrician, gynaecologist, nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, speech therapist, social workers, nutritionist, educational psychologists, occupational therapist and many more.
• Assistants in attending to the children
• A team of general maintenance and cooks
• Administrative team
• A group of volunteers
• Interns and apprentices

Physical Resources

La Casa has many dormitories for each age group, bathrooms, dining rooms, kitchens, a specific sterilized room for the preparation of baby bottles, laundries, day nursery, a room for early stimulation, toy library, gardens and park to play in, a chapel, rooms for the expectant mothers, doctor's offices, a quarantine room, visiting rooms, rooms for of art and computer classes, and administrative offices.

All the programs La Casa offers are free of charge. The economic resources for its running come from state contributions, donations from individuals, funds obtained from volunteers selling Christmas cards and figurines, letters of condolence , and more importantly the generosity of our benefactors.
