La Casa de la Madre y el Niño is admired both at national and international levels since its foundation in 1942.
It has received many awards including:
- The Cruz de Boyaca in the rank of “Comendador”. This is the highest official acknowledgement of the Colombian Government. (1967)
- Other awards include the “Jimenez de Quesada” Medal awarded by the Sociedad de Mejoras y Ornato de Bogotá, (1971)
- The founder María López de Escobar, was made Honorary Member of the Colombian Society of Pediatrics in 1973.
- Keys to the city of Middletown N.J. (1974)
- The institution has also received the “Centenario” Order of Banco de Colombia, (1978)
- The Foundation Alejandro Ángel Escobar awarded the “Premio a la Beneficencia” (1985); a recognition for its work by Banco de la República
- The Order of Civil Merit of Bogotá, (1992)
- The order of Merit of the ICBF (Colombian Institute of Family Welfare)
- A mention of Solidarity by “Diario El Colombiano” newspaper. (1993)
- For the commemoration of its 50 years La Casa was awarded by the national Post Office with an official stamp of national circulation with the founders portrait.
- For its 60 years Villegas Editores published a book dedicated to the accomplishments of La Casa with testimonials of our children and their adoptive parents around the world.
- In August 2008 La Casa obtained the ISO 9001/2000 granted by the COTECNA CERTIFICADORA SERVICES LTDA, and in September 2010 it was updated to ISO 9001/2008
