Adoption tries to unite the love of a child with the love of parents by enabling them to enjoy a family and be able to grow as an emotionally stable person. It also offers parents the satisfaction of forming a family as they desire.

The legal requirements for the couple who adopts are:

Ø      To be legally competent

Ø      To be married legally

Ø      To guarantee physical, mental, social and moral conditions to offer an adequate and stable home for the child

Ø      To be older than 25, and to be at least 15 years older than the child to be adopted

Ø      The adoptive parents cannot be more that 38 years older than the child to be adopted. 

The moral, social, economic and cultural conditions of the adopting parents are verified. 

The following are steps to request an adoption in the Casa de la Madre y el Niño: 

To contact the Adoption Committee, through letter or e-mail lacasa@coldecon.net.co with the following information: 

ÿ       Complete name and surname

ÿ       Nationality

ÿ       Address and place of residence

ÿ       Dates and places of birth

ÿ       Type of marriage and date

ÿ       Children –if applies-

ÿ       Short family history

ÿ       Education, profession and occupation

ÿ       Health condition

ÿ       Reason for the adoption

ÿ       Age and sex of the child they wish to adopt 

The Adoption Committee with analyze the Letter of Introduction and will contact the couple to indicate the steps that will follow. The information and supporting data are strictly confidential.

§      Social and psychological study

Social worker             $350.000

            Psychologist               $180.000

To be paid directly to the professionals

 

 

§      Legal expenses – Lawyers: $2´000.000

To be paid directly to the lawyer.

 

 

§      Medical expenses- Laboratory exams

They depend on the number of examinations required

Non Colombian Adoptive Parents

Costs in the country of origin

 

§      International agencies authorized by the Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar-ICBF have their own fares depending on the previous studies and the two years of follow-up after the adoption, according to the requirements of the Hague Convention.

§       The agencies should inform these costs to the adoptive parents.

§      Legal expenses – Lawyers: US$2.200

§      Translations

According to the fares of official translations, an average of $15.000 per page.

To be paid directly to the translators.

 

 

§      Apostil

They depend on the country that requires it. The price is $20.000 per document.
